23 Sep Layday and demurrage
The layday is the period of time during which the ship remains available to the shipper (or receiver) in the loading ports (or unloading ports) to carry out the loading (or unloading) of the goods. The stallie are provided for in the contract (rental per trip) and are compensated by freight. The demurrage constitutes an additional time to allow the completion of the goods loading (or unloading) operations. For the further waiting, the shipper (or the receiver) must pay the carrier an additional fee for this additional service, not compensated in the freight of the transport.
