National and international overload transport
Organising and planning overloaded transport in detail, with expertise and precision, is, indeed, crucial. GMT staff assigned to overload transport operations offers a highly qualified service, which includes:
- Identifying the most suitable vehicle for overload transport
- Route optimization
- Making sure that roads and bridges are passable,
- Requesting transit authorisations from the competent Authorities,
- Identifying the most suitable loading and securing methods, as well as the unloading method and optimal planning of cargo space.
Overload transport: transport of loads exceeding weight limits by road
There are no size limits, but in some cases compliance with additional regulations and requirements is necessary.
However, when the weight and the shape of the load exceed the standards, overload transport is required:
- Length: 16.50m if it is a car or tractor with a trailer or semi-trailer, 18.75m for trucks with trailers
- Width: 2.55m for all vehicles, 2.50m for vehicles carrying out temperature-controlled goods
- Height: 4,00m
- Weight: 18-20 tons for isolated two-axle vehicles, 24-44 tons for trucks with 3, 5 or more axles. NB: vehicles that exceed these weight limits are referred to as construction vehicles.
