CMR

The CMR indicates the International Convention relating to the International Carriage of Goods by Road.

CMR is the acronym of the French “Convention relative to the contract for international transport de marchandises par route”, in Italian Convention relating to the contract for the international transport of goods by road. The Convention governs the assignment and execution of orders, liability in case of delay in delivery, loss or damage to the goods transported. This treaty also contains provisions on complaints and in the event that there are multiple carriers that follow one another. If a case is not sufficiently regulated by the CMR, national law applies. The Convention exclusively regulates the transport of goods by road. Containers or swap bodies do not qualify as means of road transport within the meaning of the CMR. A standardized CMR consignment note is issued for this type of international transport.
